The #2 nationally ranked Mohawk Valley Community College Men's Soccer team took down the Panthers of Tompkins Cortland Community College by a score of 15-0 on Friday evening. The Hawks first got on the board 16 minutes into the game when David Achuil found Souayibou Diop for the first time finish. Gustavo Nunes would find his first tally just 8 minutes later on a pass from Davi Pena Moretzsohn. Santiago Molina would continue the scoring for the Hawks when Diop would find Molina for the goal. Gustavo Nunes would find his second tally of the game just 2 minutes later on another assist from Moretzsohn. Nunes would complete his hat-trick in the 39th minute on another assist from Moretzsohn. Molina would find his second tally of the game on another assist from Moretzsohn. Nunes would find his 4th goal of the game with less than 2 minutes left in the half on a pass from Lucas Lacerda. Nunes would then find Molina to complete his hat-trick with less than a minute in the half. The Hawks would head into halftime with a 8-0 lead.
The Hawks got an early jump in the second half when Molina would find the back of the net on a pass from Diop. David Achuil would find his first tally of the game on a pass from Molina to put the Hawks up 10-0 in the 50th minute. Giorgos Spyrou would find his first tally of the game in the 69th minute on a pass from Oscar Otero Navarro. Jorge Angeles would add another tally on a pass from Ahmadou Amar. Giorgos Spryou would then go to complete his hat-trick on assists from Jorge Angeles and Amadou Amar to close the game out. Hawk goalkeeper Jaime Mata would complete the shutout with 1 save.
The #2 Hawks return to action against #7 Cayuga Spartans on Thursday, September 12th in a Region III showdown. The game will kickoff at 7:30PM at D'Alessandro Stadium in Utica, NY.
