Hawks Advance to National Championship Game 

The MVCC Men's Soccer team is on their way to a second consecutive National Championship game after beating #2 seeded Nassau Community College 2-1 on Friday afternoon. Nassau Community College got on the board just 7 minutes into the game when Matteo Kanakarsis shaped a free kick into the top corner of the goal to put the Lions up 1-0. In the 24th minute, Santiago Molina Villafane played a ball into the box to Davi Moretzsohn. Moretzsohn laid the ball off first time to Souayibou Diop who finished the first time opportunity to tie the game 1-1. The game would go into halftime tied 1-1. In the 55th minute, Santiago Molina Villafane served a corner kick into the box that David Perez Salgado flicked past the Nassau goalkeeper to give the Hawks a 2-1 lead. The Hawks would see out the rest of the half to put them in a rematch of the 2023 National Championship game against Dallas College Richland. Jaime Mata would finish with 2 saves while his counterpart would finish with 4 saves. 

The Hawks move to 13-2-3 while the Lions finish their season 15-2-2. The #3 seeded Hawks will take on #1 seed Dallas Richland College Thunderducks on Sunday, November 17th, at 4:30PM. The Thunderducks beat the Hawks last year in the National Championship to give them their 6th consecutive National Championship. The Women's Soccer team also advanced to the National Championship game after beating Dallas College Brookhaven 3-1. The Women will play against Delta College at 6:30PM.
