Gordon, of Trinidad and Tobago, finished the race in 44:52 seconds, behind Kirani James (43.94), of Grenada, and Luguelin Santos (44.46), of the Dominican Republic.

Gordon ran for MVCC in 2009, where he placed in four events at the NJCAA national championships: the 400 relay, the 1600 relay and the 100- and 200-meter dashes.
