Three take first place at Hamilton Invitational

The MVCC men's indoor track and field team gave a strong showing at the Hamilton College Invitational held in the Bundy Field House on Saturday with three Hawks placing first in their events.

In the 60-meter run, freshman Aung Khaing won with a time of 7.18 seconds. He was also eighth in the 200-meter run in 24.4 seconds. Aaron Davis won the pole vault with a height of 4.25 meters (14 feet).

Sophomore Mike Washington also took first place in the shot put with a distance of 14.23 meters (46 feet, 7 inches) and placed ninth in the 35-pound weight throw with 11.55 meters (37 feet, 9 inches). Rajiv McSwine, a sophomore, took second place in the shot put with 14.07 meters (46 feet, 2 inches).

MVCC's Justin Shaver, a freshman, was second in the 35-pound weight throw with 13.77 meters (45 feet, 2 inches).

Freshman Brian Payne, who set a meet record last week, placed second in the 600-meter run in 1:24.98, while Hakem Stewart was second in the long jump with 6.37 meters (20 feet, 9 inches). Freshman Kevin West took second place in the heptathlon with 2,946 points while teammate Jon Wilmont was third with 2,739 points.
