Scout Ludwig’s Power On Display As MVCC Hawks Defeat SUNY Erie Kats Softball

MVCC Hawks were victorious against SUNY Erie Kats Softball 7-5 on Thursday. SUNY Erie Kats Softball jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Olivia Ball doubled, scoring two runs, and Carly Fraser grounded out, scoring one run. Carley Robinson singled to center field, which helped MVCC Hawks tie the game at three in the bottom of the second.SUNY Erie Kats Softball took the lead in the top of the third. Cheyenne Barnard singled, scoring one run, to give SUNY Erie Kats Softball the upper hand, 4-3. SUNY Erie Kats Softball scored one run in the top of the fifth on a solo home run to left field by Ball. A home run to left field by Scout Ludwig gave MVCC Hawks the lead, 6-5, in the bottom of the fifth. Kaylee Beam earned the win for MVCC Hawks. The starting pitcher surrendered eight hits and five runs over seven innings, striking out four and walking two. Grace Szpylman took the loss for SUNY Erie Kats Softball. The hurler went six innings, surrendering seven runs (four earned) on seven hits, striking out five and walking four. Ludwig drove the middle of the lineup, leading MVCC Hawks with three runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-4 on the day. Robinson went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead MVCC Hawks in hits. MVCC Hawks had a strong eye at the plate, collecting four walks for the game. Lani Roberts and Savannah Kirkby led the team with two free passes each.

Scout Ludwig hit two home runs and drove in four as MVCC Hawks defeated SUNY Erie Kats Softball 13-4 on Thursday. Ludwig homered in the seventh and third innings. MVCC Hawks got on the board in the top of the first inning after Sarah Zuchowski singled to center field, and Ludwig doubled down the left field line, each scoring one run. MVCC Hawks added five more runs in the top of the third inning on three hits. Ludwig hit a solo home run to left field, Savannah Kirkby doubled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, and an error scored two runs. MVCC Hawks added four more runs in the top of the seventh inning on five hits. Zuchowski doubled, scoring one run, Ludwig homered to center field, scoring two runs, and Kaylee Beam singled, scoring one run. Kyla Zabek earned the win for MVCC Hawks. The starting pitcher surrendered eight hits and four runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out two and walking four. Cheyenne Barnard took the loss for SUNY Erie Kats Softball. The starter went seven innings, surrendering 13 runs (10 earned) on 17 hits, striking out one and walking three. MVCC Hawks amassed 17 hits in the game. Ludwig, Kirkby, Abby Jepsen, and Zuchowski each collected three hits for MVCC Hawks. Lani Roberts collected two hits for MVCC Hawks in five at bats. MVCC Hawks turned one double play in the game.

Cervino Anna and Poitras each collected two hits for SUNY Erie Kats Softball. Poitras led SUNY Erie Kats Softball with one run batted in. The infielder went 2-for-4 on the day. SUNY Erie Kats Softball had a strong eye at the plate, tallying four walks for the game.
