Beam Shines as MVCC Splits Tight Twin Bill with Jefferson

Both teams were strong in the circle on Tuesday, but SUNY Jefferson Cannoneers was just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 2-1 victory over MVCC Hawks. Kaylee Beam started the game for MVCC Hawks and recorded 18 outs.

SUNY Jefferson Cannoneers opened the scoring in the third after Sophia VanHorn hit into a double play, but one run scored.

Layla Killino earned the win for SUNY Jefferson Cannoneers. The hurler gave up five hits and one run over seven innings, striking out eight and walking two. Beam took the loss for MVCC Hawks. The righty went six innings, allowing two runs (zero earned) on five hits, striking out four and walking none.

Sarah Zuchowski led the team with one run batted in. Carley Robinson, Lani Roberts, Kyla Zabek, Savannah Kirkby, and Beam each collected one hit for MVCC Hawks. MVCC Hawks turned one double play in the game.

Both teams were strong in the circle on Tuesday, but MVCC Hawks defeated SUNY Jefferson Cannoneers 3-0. Kaylee Beam started the game for MVCC Hawks and recorded 21 outs.

MVCC Hawks jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Scout Ludwig doubled, scoring two runs, and Abby Jepsen singled, scoring one run.

Beam earned the win for MVCC Hawks. The right-handed pitcher surrendered three hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out four and walking one. Sydney Tanner took the loss for SUNY Jefferson Cannoneers. The pitcher went six innings, giving up three runs on eight hits, striking out one and walking none.

Ludwig drove the middle of the lineup, leading MVCC Hawks with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Carley Robinson went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead MVCC Hawks in hits. Jepsen collected two hits for MVCC Hawks in three at bats.

Briana Hardwick, Katie Call, and Layla Killino each collected one hit for SUNY Jefferson Cannoneers. SUNY Jefferson Cannoneers were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Sophia VanHorn made the most plays with seven.
