First Half Propels undefeated Hawks over Saints, 67-51

Mohawk Valley Women's basketball has started off this year like they were shot out of a cannon. The offense has been free flowing, and their defensive prowess has guided the Hawks to a 5-0 record so far. Traveling to North Country Community College is always a trip that tests teams mentally and physically but the Hawks were more then ready for the challenge.

In the opening quarter, the Hawks truly proved that their "defense travels" as they jumped all over the Saints scoring 22 points but only allowing 8 in the opening quarter. Nevaeh House was the catalyst for the Hawks early on, as she set the tone with a 3 point basket and a couple hard drives to the rim to lead things off. Sophomore Mackenzie Hess continued her high quality leadership this season, but dishing out 5 first half assists, which helped guide the Hawks to a 40-20 halftime lead.

In the second half, North Country came out continuing to utilize a 2-3 zone to slow down the Hawks and they were able to knock down a few shots early on to make things interesting, but contributions across the board for Mohawk Valley proved to be too much as Mohawk Valley was able to mantain and finish out the game with an impressive 67-51 over the Saints.

Nevaeh House led the way for the Hawks on the afternoon with an impressive 20 point outing, going 8/12 from the field and 2/5 from the 3 point line.

Raegan Dalrymple had another great game for the Hawks, as she scored 13 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Nataya McGee and Aaliyah Dodd both dropped in 12 points and combined for 14 rebounds for the surging Hawks.
