Hawks fall to Cannoneers, 55-60

The Hawks traveled to Jefferson Community College on Sunday for a high octane matchup between two of the top teams in Region 3.

The opening quarter was a battle of two great defensive teams scrapping and "fighting" to ensure the opposing team could not score anything easy, and that

defensive energy led to a 11-11 tie in the opening quarter. As the second quarter started, the Cannoneers of Jefferson finally broke through. A few offensive rebounds and a hard drives to the rim saw Jefferson put together an impressive second quarter, in route to a 27-15 halftime lead over the Hawks.

As the second half started, Coffey's Hawks battled back, and showed a lot of toughness and competitive spirit by winning both the 3rd and 4th quarter by four points a piece, however they were unable to get over the home and ultimately fell by a final score of 55-60 to Jefferson.

Nevaeh House led the way with 17 points and Nataya McGee chipped in a double double of 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Mohawk Valley closes out the semester with an impressive 6-1 record.
