Hawk Spotlight: Raegan Dalrymple

Hawk Spotlight: Raegan Dalrymple

Raegan Dalrymple is a sophomore forward currently competing for Mohawk Valley's Women's basketball team. The talented forward hails from Copenhagen, NY, and has a stellar career thus far for the green and white. Her high level play has helped propel the Hawks to an 8-2 record so far this season as a result of her leadership and some impressive numbers which include averages of 14.8 points per game, and 11.6 rebounds per game in the 2023-2024 season. So far in her career as a Mohawk Valley Hawk, Dalrymple has tallied an impressive 17 double digit scoring games, and 15 double figure rebound games. Following another impressive week, we sat down with Raegan to ask her some questions:

Being such a talented athlete and dedicated student out of high school, what are some of the reasons you chose MV? "I choose MV due to the Radiologic Technology program, but that's not the only reason. There are multiple of other schools I could of choose for the RAD Tech program but MVCC had a great campus, the admissions office was extremely helpful and welcoming, and my basketball Coach Coffee and assistant coach Chet LoConti were very persuasive with me. I knew they believed in me and I knew they would work hard with me to help me grow. They had lots of confident in me the first time I met them and I knew they would help me with anything. I'm thankful I choose MV, not just for the education but also for basketball. I've created a family at MV and I wouldn't trade it for another school."

Your team is off to a great start this year, and has showed great chemistry early on, what are some of the reasons you believe your team is playing so well together? "We had difficulty with numbers in the beginning of the season, and we have had teammates come and go. This group of girls we have now, have stuck together from the very beginning. We all worked hard in the pre season together and we all want to be successful and go far. So we continue to work hard. I believe this group of girls have choose to stick together from the very beginning and we're all in this together till the end."

What are some of your personal and team goals for this season? "My personal goal for the season is to be better and do better than last season. The team goal is to continue what we do and take one game at a time."

What are some of your future aspirations? "My future aspirations is to get a job as a RAD tech to start working towards my life on my own. If you were on an island all alone and could only bring two things what would they be? I would bring my tooth brush and duck tape or something. Cant stand when my teeth are gross and duck tape I could use to make things to help survive."

Who's the funniest person on your team and why ? "Naveah House for sure, she has a personality where she doesn't care what others think of her. She plays to have fun while working hard to win. She makes practices fun and she always create a fun mood during games. Every team needs a Naveah House."

What's any interesting fact about you that no one would ever know? "My older sister, Riley Dalrymple is a college wrestler at one of the top schools in the country for women's wrestling (Life University). Her roommate last year, Peyton Prussin is a 3x National Champion."

Raegan and her teammates will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as they travel to Adirondack Community College for a game slated for a 1:00 PM TIP.
