MVCC Women Fly By HVCC, 66-59

Mohawk Valley Women's Basketball took on Hudson Valley Community College on Thursday night in a 5:00 PM contest.

The Hawks took down the Vikings in their first meeting on November 11th in Troy, by a final score of 63-47. Coming into Thursday's game, the Vikings looked to give their best to even up the season series, but the Hawks had other plans.

The first quarter was a back and forth affair which ended in a 19-19 tie. Both teams played in transition, and showed spectators a great brand of basketball in the opening minutes. As the second quarter started, the Vikings made a run and ultimately went into half time with a 40-34 lead over the hometown Hawks. Nataya McGee kept the Hawks in the game throughout the first half putting up an impressive 18 points in the first half alone.

In the second half, the back and forth battle continued on, and ultimately saw the Hawks cut the Vikings lead down to 4 points going in to the final quarter of play.

A defensive adjustment by Coach Coffey saw the Hawks hold the Vikings to just 7 points in the final quarter of play and propelled Mohawk Valley to a 66-59 victory over Hudson Valley.

Raegan Dalrymple scored 12 of her 14 points in the final quarter of play which proved to be a huge impact on the victory for the Hawks.

Mohawk Valley will be back in action on Sunday afternoon as they take on Corning Community College in a game slated for 12:00 PM.
