Women's basketball get their first win of the season (1-2) against Herkimer CC. Sophomore Nataya McGee scored 12 of her 30 points in the first quarter with the score of 20-17. The second quarter, the Hawks built their lead, tightening up their defense only allowing one field goal in the quarter, the other 8 points coming from the foul line. Mohawk Valley finished the half will a 12 point lead (37-25). Freshman Felise Fowler (Amsterdam, NY), racked up 7 of her 11 points in the second quarter. 

The third quarter continued the defensive effort by the Hawks, allowing the Generals just 6 points on the quarter and extending the lead with scoring from 5 different Hawks (54-31). A fourth quarter surge from the Generals put the game within reach, but the inside presence of Nataya McGee and Shayla Baker proved to be too much for the Generals as they combined for 17 points down the stretch with a final score of 76-53. Florida native, Nataya McGee finished with 30 points, 10 rebounds and 6 steals. Shayla Baker (Syracuse, N.Y.) finished with 11 points and 9 rebounds. Jani Washington (Rochester, N.Y.) and Felise Fowler also scoring in double figures with 11 each. 

The Hawks begin a series of road games with North Country CC November 13th.
