Coach Coffey's women's basketball team here at Mohawk Valley has been on a hot streak over the past 2 weeks. The impressive Hawks have put together a 4 game winning streak and are getting contributions across the board from a number of Hawks.
In last nights game, the Hawks came out with great energy and put together a quality first half, which allowed them to head into the locker room with a 19 point lead over the Raiders.
Coming out in the second half, it was more of the same for the Hawks. A 26-5 third quarter further seperated the Hawks and Raiders, and Mohawk Valley ultimately defeated the Raiders by a final score of 80-36.
The Hawks were led in the scoring column by Jani Washington's 18 point performance. Nataya McGee continued on with her impressive start to the season adding 14 points and 15 rebounds while fighting through the Raiders looking to deny her the ball much of the game.
Zanii Mayo put together an all around performance for the Hawks as she put together a 2018 Russell Westbrook stat line scoring 11 points, grabbing 11 rebounds and dishing out 6 assists.
Shayla Baker controlled the boards for the Hawks all evening, as she pulled down a career high 23 rebounds to go with her 7 points. To round out the double digit scoring, Felise Fowler scored 12 points as she stretched the defense from the 3 point line all evening long.
The Hawks will be back in action Friday evening at 5:00 PM as they take on Finger Lakes on the road.
