Hawks Battle Hard in Weekend Home Stand Against Onondaga and Jefferson

UTICA, NY – The Mohawk Valley Hawks took to the court for a challenging two-game home stand this past weekend, facing off against Onondaga Community College on Saturday and Jefferson Community College on Sunday.

In Saturday's matchup, the Hawks and Onondaga Lazers engaged in a competitive, back-and-forth contest. At halftime, Mohawk Valley trailed by just five points, but despite a strong effort, the Lazers ultimately secured a hard-fought 74-65 victory. Shayla Baker (20 points) and Nataya McGee (23 points) led the way for the Hawks, combining for an impressive 43 points and several highlight plays to keep the team in contention.

The Hawks returned to the court on Sunday afternoon for a 2 PM showdown against Jefferson Community College. The first half was another tight battle, with Mohawk Valley heading into the break trailing by only eight, 33-25. However, Jefferson's efficient shooting in the second half proved to be too much, as the Cannoneers pulled away to secure a 78-44 win. Tiara Smith led the Hawks with 9 points, while McGee, Felise Fowler, and Baker each contributed 8 points.

Mohawk Valley looks to bounce back on Tuesday evening at home when they take on North Country Community College at 5:30 PM.
