
The Mohawk Valley Community College women's basketball team secured a hard-fought victory in the opening round of the 2024-2025 NJCAA Region 3 Tournament, defeating Genesee Community College on Tuesday night.
The Hawks' defensive intensity proved to be the difference, as they battled throughout the game to maintain their lead. Felise Fowler delivered a dominant performance, pouring in 33 points, including an impressive seven three-pointers, to power Mohawk Valley to the win. Tiara Smith provided a crucial second-half spark, scoring all nine of her points after the break to help seal the victory.
With the win, the Hawks advance to the Region 3 Quarterfinals, where they will face Hudson Valley Community College on Friday afternoon at 3:15 PM. The game will be played at Jefferson Community College, with Mohawk Valley aiming to punch its ticket to the Region 3 Semifinals.
