Gillette's hat-trick leads MVCC to important victory

Gillette's hat-trick leads MVCC to important victory

On Wednesday evening, the #3 Hawks hosted #Genesee Community College in a highly anticipated contest.

The Hawks came out of the gate strong and their aggressiveness paid off with a goal by Jazmyn Gillette on an assist by Amber Piersma, to get things started early in the first half. As the half went on, Mohawk Valley continued their strong defensive effort which has contributed heavily to their success on the offensive end of the field.

That defense translated to two more goals in the first half, one by Amber Piersma and another by Jazmyn Gillette assisted by Amanda Sweet. The Hawks took a 3-0 lead into halftime while only allowing 2 shots on goal.

The second half was more of the same for the Hawks, as Amber Piersma continued her stellar play, laying out a beautiful ball for Lexi Bates that she put in the back of the net, to give the Hawks a 4-0 lead.

Jazmyn Gillette scored her 3rd goal of the game to put the game away for the Hawks, and bring the Mohawk Valley Community College Women's Soccer teams record to 8-0!

The Hawks will be back in action next Wednesday, October 5th, against Finger Lakes Community College at home.
