The Mohawk Valley Womens soccer team traveled to Suffolk to take on the Sharks to start off their 2024 regular season. 

In a rematch of the 3rd place game from the 2023 NJCAA National Tournament, it was obvious early on that this was going to be a back and forth affair from start to finish.  

As the game got started, both teams battled for possession but it was ultimately the Hawks that were able to break through and create some seperation with a Jenna Johnson goal in the 23rd minute of play. The impressive goal was assited by Paige Malowski and gave the Hawks at 1-0 lead. 

The two continued to battle back and forth and just before half time Suffolk was able to even the score and send the two heading into halftime 1-1, as the Hawks regrouped and strategized.

Coming out in the second half, it was the Sharks who were able to strike first and take a 2-1 lead. Over the next 15 minutes, shots were traded on goal until the Hawks Isabella Kieban scored their second goal of the game to even the score at 2-2.  

The match ultimately ended in a 2-2 draw in their first match of the season.
