Hawks Soar Past Hornets

Hawks Soar Past Hornets

The Hawks took on the SUNY Broome Hornets in a Wednesday afternoon battle on the campus of Mohawk Valley Community College.

Jenna Johnson started off the scoring the Hawks netting a goal at the 10:24 mark to give Hawks a 1-0 lead, and that was a lead that they would never relinquish for the totality of the match. After 12 minutes of great soccer from both teams, the Hawks again broke through when Paige Malowski netted her first goal of the game and quickly added a second just 2 minutes later to give the Hawks at commanding 3-0 lead.

Just before the half at the 36 minute mark, Alycia McKoy netted a goal to make it 4-0 MV heading into the break.

As the second half began, it was more of the same for the ladies in Green and White. Paige Malowski continued on with her impressive afternoon by adding her 3rd goal and notching her first hat trick of the season.

Two more goals were added in the final minutes of the contest by the Hawks' Avery Bolton and Mallory Mower to finish out the scoring and completing their 7-0 victory over the Broome Hornets.

Isabella Kleban added 3 assists for the Hawks on the afternoon, in a game where the Hawks took 23 shots on goal, and only gave up 2 shots on goal in total.

The Hawks will be back in action on Saturday, September 14th as they take on Jefferson Community College at home, in a game slated for a 4:00 PM kickoff.
