Malowski Shines For The Hawks

Malowski Shines For The Hawks

The Hawks made the journey north this week to take on a talented North Country Saints team.

The first half was an epic battle for control between two very talented teams. Defense proved to be a key point of emphasis for both programs early on in this game, as they battled for possession but either conceded a goal in the first half. Although the game was evenly matched through the first 45 minutes, it was obvious that the 0-0 half time score did not sit well with Coach Vitale and the Mohawk Valley Hawks.

As the second half began, the Hawks continued to test the Saints goalkeeper until they finally broke through in the 57th minute of play. That's when Jenna Johnson played a through ball to Paige Malowski and she found the back of the net to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead.

But the Mohawk Valley attack did not stop there. With the Hawks attempting 18 shots on goal, and the Saints only attempting 3, the numbers were on the side of the green and white as they offensive prowess continued to put heavy pressure on North Country. Then just 8 minutes later, Malowski struck again. Her second goal of the contest gave the Hawks a 2-0 lead, that they would hold onto for the remainder of the contest and that sealed the 2-0 victory.

The Hawks will be back in action on Saturday afternoon as they take on Hudson Valley at 12:00 PM on the road.
