MV Women's Soccer Takes Down Herkimer

Anytime Mohawk Valley and Herkimer meet, regardless of sport, team records, date, or time, we can all be sure that there will be a high level of intensity on display for specatators to see.

On a chilly Wednesday evening in Utica, these two teams battled it out and made sure that the fans got all the action they could handle.

Through 30 minutes of action, the Hawks & Generals battled for possession, and competed hard on both ends of the field. In a game where physical play was the norm, it was obvious there would be no easy goal for either team at any point in this game.

In the 32nd minute, the Hawks put heavy pressure on the Generals defense and were able to break through when Sophomore Raegan Dalrymple found the back of the net to send the Hawk faithful into a frenzy on the sideline. The epic goal by the talented second year player, gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead and a little bit of breathing room in a game where tension was high throughout.

As the first half went on, both teams battled and despite a low number of shots on goal for the Generals, they did all they could to try to score before the first 45 minutes expired. However, the Hawks defense held strong and the two headed into the locker room with a 1-0 lead in favor of the Mohawk Valley Hawks.

In the second half, both teams continued to battle and emotions ran high as the two teams accumulated some fouls. But as the wind blew and the fall leaves fell to the ground, the final horn sounded and the Mohawk Valley Community College Hawks were able to take down Herkimer by a final score of 1-0.

An addition to a great display of toughness by the Hawks offense an midfield, an impressive display of will power was shown by the Hawks defense all evening and highlighted by two impressive saves by Arissa Bolton to help secure the victory.

The Hawks will be back in action for the first round of regionals on Tuesday, October 22nd at Utica University.
