Hawks Women's Soccer Goes Back to Back, Win's Region 3 Championship

It has been a storybook season thus far for Coach Vitale and his Mohawk Valley Hawks women's soccer team.

The impressive group hadn't been defeated in NJCAA Region 3 play or Mountain Valley Conference play all season, coming into the Region 3 tournament this past week. With lazer focus, big time preperation, and competitiveness that was second to none, the Hawks kept that streak going and completed its Regional post season in epic fashion with an NJCAA Region 3 Championship this past weekend.

As usual, the Hawks came blazing out of the gates putting heavy pressure on a talented Herkimer team. The Hawks efforts paid off early as Isabella Kleban found the back of the net off of a pass from Morgan Angus to give them a 1-0 lead , ust 10 minutes into the Regional Championship game.

Just 4 minutes later, Paige Malowski continued on with her impressive season finding the back of the net off of a great ball from Jenna Johnson, to give the Hawks some more breathing room and a 2-0 lead.

As the half wore on, the Mohawk Valley Hawks defense continued on with its impressive efforts, only allowing 1 goal in the last 7 contests, and helped bring the Hawks into halftime holding that 2-0 lead with just one half remaining to be crowned champions.

In the second half, possession traded back and forth between the two talented teams, however it was Mohawk Valley who would again break through with another goal by Kleban on an assist from Mallory Mower, and also an unassisted goal by Raegan Dalrymple, which ultimately led to the Hawks winning their second straight Region 3 Championship by a final score of 4-0.

The Mohawk Valley Hawks will await the selection show, as they now prepare for the NJCAA National Tournament once again.
