Women’s Tennis Opens the season with a win at Hudson Valley!

The Women's Tennis team started off the 2022 season with a 7-2 victory at Hudson Valley Friday afternoon. Freshmen Philymena DiKar and Rebecca Huynh dropped the first doubles match by a score of 5-8 to Hudson Valley's Aubrie Murphy and Zara Cole. Callie Ott and Hannah Richter would get the Hawks a point by defeating Erin Innerarity and Emma Spadaro 8-1, and Emily Clemons and Lonnie Wadsworth would add the teams second doubles point.

The Hawks battled to win five out of six points in the singles flight with the lone defeat being in a very exiting first singles match with DiKar falling in a third set tiebreak to Hudson Valley's Aubrie Murphy by a score of 6-3, 4-6, (10-7). Huynh would get her first collegiate win over Cole 6-3, 6-4. Callie Ott won the third singles flight 6-1, 6-3. Sophomore Kaitlyn Fitch defeated Emma Spadaro 6-0, 6-2. Hannah Richter got another point in singles as she defeated Ckailea Kewley 6-0, 6-3. Clemons would round out the scoring for the Hawks with a forfeit victory in the 6th singles flight.

 

Mohawk Valley will return to action this coming Tuesday, September 13th, as they host Herkimer at 4:00pm on the courts of Mohawk Valley out back behind the Jorgensen Center.
