Another tough fall weather day forced the Hawks to host Herkimer inside the fieldhouse of the Jorgensen Center, but that did not slow the ladies down as they defeated the visiting Herkimer Generals by a score of 9-0. Philymena DiKar and Rebecca Huynh are finding their stride in first doubles with an 8-2 victory. Julia Cucci and Callie Ott had to battle before defeating Herkimer's Marcella Seaton and Natalie Sagatis 8-5. Hannah Richter and Kaitlyn Fitch looked very tough in the third doubles flight with an 8-0 sweep.
Also playing Pro 8 sets in singles, the Hawks won all six of those matches as well. In first singles, Cucci won 8-1. In second singles, DiKar won 8-3. In third singles Huynh won 8-0. In fourth singles, Ott was 8-0. In fifth singles, Richter overcame an early deficit to come back and win 8-5. Finally, in sixth singles, Lonnie Wadsworth won her first career singles match by a score of 8-1.
Mohawk Valley will finish up the regular season this Friday as they will travel to Herkimer for a 3:00pm start before hosting the regional championship tournament on Sunday, October 9th.
