On Sunday, Mohawk Valley hosted the 2024 Women's Tennis Region III Championship Tournament.  The weather played a significant role as the forecasted rain forced the tournament to be played on the indoor courts of the Jorgensen Athletic and Event Center.  The singles tournament was played best two out of three sets, and the doubles tournament was played as one Pro 8 set to accommodate the teams with fewer courts being available.  With the Hawks, Hudson Valley, and Herkimer being the three teams in the regional tournament, the Vikings earned the number one seed across all flights and automatic bids into the regional championship matches across the nine flights.  The Hawks and Generals battled in semi-final matches earlier on in the day with the winners advancing to play the Vikings in the championship matches later in the afternoon/evening.  

In doubles play, the semifinal matches saw the Hawks win two out of the three flights, that being first doubles as Victoria Vo and Marga Villahermosa defeated Herkimer's Anderson Eggleston and Maria Golden 8-1, and the third doubles Hannah Pcola and Amber Piersma defeating Maddy Altamura and Lizzy Cingranelli 8-0.  Herkimer's second doubles of Lydia Reimer and Marley Harmer defeated Mohawk Valley's Cailynn Patterson and Brooklyn Skellham 8-4.  In the championship matches, Hudson Valley's Keely Legnard and Mia Manera defeated the Hawk's Vo and Villahermosa 8-5.  The Hawks claimed their first individual regional championship of the afternoon as Hannah Pcola and Amber Piersma defeated Hudson Valley's Sidney Price and Olliver Bulmer 8-6 to claim the Region III Championship for 3^rd doubles.

In singles play, the Hawks advanced to the regional championship match in five out of the six singles flights with Vo, Villahermosa, Patterson, Pcola, and Piersma all advancing to the championship matches.  The 6^th singles flight regional championship was won by Herkimer's Marley Harmer after defeating Olliver Bulmer of Hudson Valley.  The Hawks were able to win two out of the five regional championship matchups in singles as Hannah Pcola grabbed her second championship of the afternoon with a 7-5, 7-6 (7-1) victory over Hudson Valley's Zara Cole.  The thriller of the evening was the 5^th singles flight that was a three-set classic with Mohawk Valley's Amber Piersma defeating Hudson Valley's Sidney Phillips by a score of 6-4, 6-7 (7-4), 7-5 in the final match of the evening to win her second championship of the day.  

Overall, the team champion of Region III this year is Hudson Valley, ending Mohawk Valley's bid for a fourth straight Region III Championship with Hudson Valley coach Bruce Perry being named Region III Coach of the Year.  The final score of the day was:
